Crated shipping versus loose load.
Crating your shipment means that your boxes and household goods will loaded into lift vans. This lift van will have only your goods in it and is not going to be shared with anyone else. The lift van will not be opened until it reaches customs for inspection and for final delivery at your residence. Loose loading shipment on the other hand means that your household goods will be directly put into a truck with other people's things. This results in multiple handling of your shipment thus increasing mix ups, damages, etc. Our goal is to deliver your shipment, door to door safe and intact and this is why we prefer to crate your shipment. Crating insures that your household goods will not be handled too many times thus reducing instances of loss, theft, damages and mix ups. Our crating can be as small as 100 cubic feet which is half a lift van. As mentioned previously, lift vans can hold a mixture of furniture and boxes. If you have mostly boxes, we offer cargo container shipment if you have mostly boxes and very small pieces of furniture.

Most of the time, we will crate your shipment into crates called lift vans; however, it depends on how big your shipment is. Each lift van can hold around 1,000 lbs and yields 196 cubic feet which equals to a small studio's worth of household goods. There are three typical steps involved with your relocation.
1. Origin Services. This is where our agent comes in and either packs and/or loads the shipment onto a wooden container called a lift van. If you like, I can send you an email that has a photo of a lift van as well as the dimensions so you can see what your household goods will be kept in. You can use one or more lift vans in a given move.
2. Trucking. Our trucking company will come and pick up your shipment from the agent's warehouse and then deliver it Canada's customs for inspection. Normally, there is no customs fee unless you need a broker due to unforeseen problems getting your household goods cleared through customs. Typically, the cost for a customs broker is $200.00 to $400.00.
3. Destination Services. After your shipment clears customs, our agent will pick up the shipment from customs and then deliver the shipment into your house. We will unload the shipment into your home and remove the debris from your residence.
